Alpen Bike Capsule is nearly here after funding through Indigogo. The futuristic bike capsule is made of polyethylene shells with waterproofing protection and a locking mechanism. It measures in at 79″L x 32″W x 53″H and will contain a bike up to 75″ long and 46″ tall. They’re available for a limited time for $1,500 and free shipping in the US.

Terrene Tires was recently caught on Instagram previewing a new set of tires. They’re photographed on the Ibis Ripley LS 29er. The rig will fit up to a 2.6″ tire, but we expect the set to be slightly smaller. The above photo shows some deep knobs with wide spacing between them so expect them to live up to their name, Chunk. The official launch is coming April 19th, stay tuned for the details.

QuadLock now secures Samsung Galaxy S9(+)

Since their launch in 2012, QuadLock announced a case/mount combo specifically made for Samsung’s Galaxy S9(+) phone. The mount installs with its provided o-rings and zip ties. While a molded microfiber lined case holds the phone. The $70 system secures and separates in seconds and will be available sometime this month. Even though the S9 is water-resistant in up to 5′ of water there will be an accessory to prevent rain damage.

Where’s the Yakima & Poler SkyRise?

Poler gave Yakima’s SkyRise rooftop tent a makeover. It may be hard to find, but if you blur your vision it may just pop out. The aesthetically redesigned $1,600 camouflage tent sleeps 3 people (or 2 comfortably) and is has a quick ‘n’ easy setup process. Smith recently partnered with Castelli to bring fresh kits for men and women. Their $140 jerseys include 3 pockets, locking front zipper, breathable fabrics and 2 color options. Bibs get mesh shoulder straps and aero-friendly fabric around the legs. The $210 bibs also come with Castelli’s Kiss Air chamois and – like the jerseys – come in XS – XXL. Customized SockGuy compression socks have 6″ cuffs and come in one size.

Recharge with Adventure Kings

Camping power is getting bigger with Adventure Kings new 250W solar panel system. It uses photovoltaic cells and is regulated with a 12v DC power output. Its even had a peak output of 13.74A on the shortest day of the year. Charges 120A/hrs over the corse of a summer day offers any campsite 200A/hrs of power. Their $120 Cosmic jersey gets a race fit, ultra-wicking fabric blend, breathable mesh sleeves and 4 pockets – 1 zips. The $160 Cosmic bib has a cushy Ergo 3D chamois and wide leg grips. Cosmic High Socks get an anti-microbial and breathable knit for $15. Capping things off, their $20 Roadie Cap is light and breathable with an elastic band to stay in place.

Rapha is takin’ it easy

Rapha recently launched their off-bike apparel lineup, Pro Team Transfer. The series consists of men’s and women’s sweatpants and hoodies. The $150 hoodies get water repellent fabrics, full front zips, silicon Rapha branding, drawstring hoods, bonded seams and 2 zipping front pockets. Their $125 sweatpants get an elastic waistband, zipper and snap pockets, silicon Rapha logos, reinforced waist drawstring, and made of 100% polyester. Both pieces come in black and blue.

Designer sweatpants to wear when your sitting around drinking beer smoking and eating junk food. Never seen anybody athletic wear this type of clothing. Mostly fat people that need an elasticated waste line.

That bike pod idea isn’t a terrible idea for office parks you could tie it in to a registration system that charges people if they leave a bike locked up for weeks and it would be more aesthetically appealing than current cage options plus for someone like me even my cheapest bike which doesn’t have much actual value is a theft target because it says Specialized on it this would eliminate that.

Isn’t the Chunk already on their website? that is a rhetorical question, i just looked at it. So this is just a new size? seems kinda lame to have an article about a new size of tire. Not like we haven’t seen 29 x 2.6 tires before.

This picture isn’t even of a Chunk tread. I assume Tim put a Chunk hot patch on the tire to keep people from looking too closely at it. BR got the name wrong. NBD.
