We’ve been keeping an eye on Bikeroom since they popped up on our radar selling real World Tour-raced pro road bikes and other discounted premium bikes a few years back. I mean, where else can you seriously buy one of Wout Van Aert’s actual Visma Cervélo S5 bikes, with his name still on the toptube? Well, they just raised an extra €3 million via a couple big new investors, with the aim of “accelerating the growth of [their] e-commerce platform dedicated to premium bicycles”.

It sounds like buying used pro bikes is gonna stick around for a while, and probably become even more accessible globally…

Big Bikeroom Investment Boosts New & Used Bike Availability

Created in Italy as an online platform to buy both new and certified used premium bikes of all disciplines, it was honestly the real team bikes from notable pro riders that caught our attention. But from the start, Bikeroom was always about more than just used pro bikes. They wanted to create a one-stop online shop where buyers could find great deals on all sorts of premium bikes – and a place where buyers could still get a proper guarantee and certification of pre-owned bikes.

Now, with an extra €3 million of venture capital from Azimut Eltif, Vesper Holding, and some smaller investors, Bikeroom has more support to ‘scale up’ its e-commerce platform, backbone tech infrastructure & logistics with a goal of ‘rapid growth’, especially growing their team and expanding into more international markets.

With a fast-growing community of enthusiasts and a network of partner bike shops across Europe, the company aims to become the world’s largest marketplace for premium bicycles. At the heart of Bikeroom’s vision is a commitment to key values—quality, traceability, and transparency—creating a platform that offers more than just transactions, but a meaningful experience for every cyclist.”

“Bikeroom is growing because we’re solving real, structural problems in the cycling world. We’re digitizing the sales processes of specialized bike shops, unifying a fragmented market, and offering a premium buying experience to end customers. We focus on service, packaging, and user experience at a level this industry hasn’t seen before.”

– Matteo Maruzzi, Bikeroom co-founder and CEO

Not cheaper Pro Bikes, but maybe more accessible?

The cost of used pro bikes isn’t likely to come down. They probably will become a bit easier to get around the world, though. Yet, that in itself might decrease availability, since the stock is so limited. But perhaps more pro teams across more cycling disciplines could get on board as the platform grows and reaches a broader audience of fans. Perhaps you might eventually find one of Tahnée Seagrave’s DH bikes or a Tom Pidcock XC bike on the Bikeroom site?

By the way, that Wout Van Aert Cervélo is honestly still available. It is wildly expensive. But how cool would it be for a Wout superfan who already wanted a new aero road bike to be able to ride one of Wout’s actual bikes!
