Moving into 2018, Williams has some new wheels – and a new distribution network. Previously an internet-only based company, the brand is adding brick and mortar retailers in order to expose more customers to the advantages that Williams brings to the table. Advantages like an all new carbon clincher line up that includes the System 45, 60, and 90 wheelsets.
Starting with a redesigned full carbon clincher rim with a U-shaped aero profile, the rims utilize a new proprietary carbon layup and are offered in both rim and disc brake specific models. The 45s kick things off with a 45mm deep (to the tire bed), 26mm wide rim with an 18.4mm internal width tubeless ready profile. Weight is a claimed 665/883g for a 1548g pair (rim brake).
All of the new System wheels include the new Williams Virgo hubs in either rim or six bolt disc brake configurations. The hubs have sealed bearings and a replaceable freehub for SRAM/Shimano HG or Campagnolo cassettes with three pawls and 36t ratchet ring, and the rim brake hubs are QR only while the Disc hubs include replaceable end caps to run QR/12mm/15mm thru axles up front and 12x135mm or 12x142mm out back.
All of the wheels are also available in your choice of 10 decal colors at no extra charge. With no difference in price between the clincher or disc brake models, the System 45s sell for $1,399.
The System 60s offer all of the same features of the System 45s, with the exception of a 60mm deep profile and the same width measurements. Claimed weight of the 60 rim brake wheels is 747/951g for a 1698g pair and a retail price of $1,439.
Finally, the System 90 again sees all of the same features as the last two but with a 90mm deep, 18.4/26mm wide profile. Claimed weight is 878/1098g for a 1976g pair and a price of $1,479.
All wheelsets include both wheels, quick release skewers, Williams carbon pads (rim brake) or thru axle caps (disc brake), and rim tape and valve extenders. Available now with free shipping.
