Last spring we learned that State Bicycle Co. set up some exclusive merchandising deal to cross Springfield’s most famous animated family over into the realm of cycling. That deal saw State producing Simpsons themed clothing, bags, bartape & saddles, but it also meant a few special edition singlespeed framesets. Now State has decided to give away the winner’s choice of three custom Dream Build bikes, and all you have to do is head over to their site to register.
Simpsons x State fixed gear Dream Builds
The idea was simple, start with the three most popular bikes in the Simpsons collaboration out of their 4130 Core bike family – each with the same double butted chromoly steel frame with brake & rear rack mounts. That is the yellow Springfield Characters bike with simple outlines, the white Color Block Family that distills the nuclear family down to their basic colors, and the green Skull & Cross Bart bike. You can already get each of these as a limited edition bike with a $500 build, but State wanted to do something a bit more extravagant. So the Dream Builds throw caution to the wind and swap in carbon, premium wheelsets, and fancy cranksets for a bit more personality.
The Edna
Edna is the fastest of the bunch, starting with the yellow Springfield Characters bike, then kitted out with a lot of ENVE carbon. The bike gets a carbon ENVE offset seatpost, stem & compact road dropbar, plus a pair of house brand Essor Dash 66 carbon wheels, a carbon railed Fizik Antares 00 saddle, and a machined aluminum Rotor 3D Aero Track crankset.
The Marge
Mother Marge sticks to the core family unit and the white Color Block Family frameset. Her build stick to a more classic old school track aesthetic, with polished aluminum topped off with a Campagnolo Record crank. Add to the Campy a shiny alloy seatpost & stem from Velo Orange’s Grand Cru, a deep Deda Velocita drop bar, a Brooks Cambium C17 saddle, and a set of State’s own Lo-Pro box section polished aluminum Track wheels.
The Selma
Lastly, is the Selma which starts with the green Skull & Cross Bart frameset and gets more of a flat bar Alley Cat build. Standouts on this bike are first the Rolf Prima Vigor FX wheels and skinwall Panaracer Pasela tires. But you still get a nice black ano Thomson Elite post, X4 stem & carbon low-rise handlebar, plus a SRAM Omnium crank & Factory 5 Lattice chainring, and a Brooks Cambium C15 Carved saddle.
