File this under good news for fans of plus tires – WTB’s Vigilante is getting bigger. When plus bikes first started gaining popularity, most of the available tires were lacking in tread in an effort to shave weight. As more people rode them, demand built for more aggressive tires that were still plus sized, just better suited for loose or sloppy conditions.

Now, with the introduction of the Vigilante 27.5 x 2.8″, WTB’s fans have a truly aggressive tread option for plus bikes. Optimized for 35 to 45mm internal width rims, the 2.8″ Vigilante will initially only be offered in 27.5″, though a 29″ version is in the works and should be here by February.

All of the Vigilante 2.8″ tires feature their TriTec rubber compound with a firm rubber base, and soft rubber coating the cornering lugs and medium durometer rubber covering the center knobs. There will be two casing options, TCS Light with their Slash Guard sidewall protection, and dual ply TCS Tough.

Featuring the same tread pattern as the current Vigilante, just upsized for plus bikes, the tires are tubeless ready, and have a claimed weight of 1126-1220g. Pricing starts at $67.95 for the TCS Light, and $76.95 for the TCS Tough High Grip or TCS Tough Fast Rolling.
