Abandoning the auto for the bike is all well and good, until you wanna get outta dodge and hit the trails well outside of town. Sure, you might be able to bum a ride from friends now and then, but when schedules don’t mesh, you don’t want to be stuck. Now, Yakima’s helping make it a bit easier in areas serviced by Zipcar by outfitting some vehicles with their Streamline base rack system.
Those will be paired with FrontLoader bike tray mounts, FatCat 6 ski/snowboard mounts and/or SUPdawg paddle and surf board mounts. About 150 cars in 17 markets will be so equipped, each one capable of holding more than one piece of equipment (two bikes, to be exact), so you can even pick up a friend. Check out their Yakima-specific web page for details and availability. You’ll find them on Subaru Impreza and Crosstrek models for the U.S., and the Hyundai Elantra in Canada.
