Yeti Cycles is rolling into 2025 with a significant milestone — 40 years of dirt, speed, and straight-up mountain bike history. And to mark the occasion, they’ve done their best: built a jaw-dropping, limited-edition ride that pays homage to their early ‘90s race legacy.

Check out this killer limited anniversary edition ASR trail bike in classic turquoise, gray & purple!

The 40th Anniversary ASR is a modern machine packed with nostalgia, performance, and a solemn nod to the freaks and racers who put Yeti on the map. This bike is exceptional, and the attention to detail is perfectly Yeti. So get your credit cards ready, because once you see it, it’s gonna be hard to forget.

Remember, though, there are only 200 available. So you should probably warm-up that VISA quickly!

A Tribute to a Golden Era of Mountain Biking

Long before Yeti’s signature Turquoise and Yellow became a staple, the early ‘90s team bikes rocked a Turquoise and Gray combo—ridden by legends like Jimmy Deaton, Juli Furtado, and Missy Giove.

It was a wild time, with the sport exploding into the mainstream and Yeti smack in the middle. So that’s the ethos they are building on with this callback.

This limited-run Yeti ASR (only 200 bikes!) captures that spirit, while packing in cutting-edge tech for today’s trail riders.

Modern Muscle Meets Retro Cool

So, what makes this ASR a worthy anniversary build?

Starting with the 115mm rear travel XC-race-ready ASR that debuted just last spring, this special edition gets upgraded with the all-new Fox 34 SL up front, bumped to 130mm travel for a slightly slacker head angle and extra confidence when things get rowdy.

And of course, it’s color matched!

The, SRAM’s latest XX AXS Eagle Transmission drivetrain gets a one-off 3D Violet treatment, giving the bike the perfect mix of modern performance and vintage purple ano flair.

Yeti ASR Limted 40th anniversery front hub

Add in last week’s all-new lightweight 4-piston Motive Ultimate brakes, and a fully customized DT Swiss XMC1200 wheelset with matching purple DT hubs (a colorful rarity in themselves). Then, top off those wheels with unique Maxxis Forekaster 2.4″ tires featuring custom Turquoise hot patches, to round out the dream build.

Chris King, one of Yeti’s longest-standing partners, brings their precision-made headset, bottom bracket, and seat collar into the mix—because buttery smooth performance never goes out of style. And because, purple ano!

And then there are even more subtle details from Yeti and friends: a polished aluminum SL rocker link, custom-engraved BikeYoke Barkeeper stem, and throwback ODI Speed Grips straight from the original molds.

It’s a greatest-hits album in bike form, but with all the best modern trappings!

Each 40th Anniversary ASR is individually numbered on Yeti’s Special Projects badge and hand-assembled in the company’s factory in Golden, Colorado.

That means every bike is as dialed as possible, straight from the source. If you want one, move fast — this kind of release disappears before most people even hear about it.

Yeti’s always had a way of blending history with innovation, and this ASR is no exception.

It’s fast, it’s rare, and it’s got that undeniable Yeti DNA that’s fueled four decades of mountain bike racing. Consider this your official final warning — these won’t last long.

Should have come with King hubs for 14k but still a sweet ride no doubt.

I know I’m splitting hairs here, but the frame looks almost identical to the SC Blur. In fact, it seems like most short-travel XC/trail bikes all pretty much look the same these days.

This is definitely in the “Too pretty to ride” category.

What an embarrassment. This is how cross country bikes were years ago and now they slap some cool paint on it and call it a special edition while charging obscene prices. We wonder why the industry is crashing

Yeah, the industry isn’t crashing because of “special edition” bikes. You do realize, don’t you, that special edition bikes are typically made in very small numbers, right? There might be a universe in which the industry crashes because a company markets 200 special edition bikes, but that universe prolly only exists in a really dumb sci-fi or dystopian flick.

Wow, $14k for a 2017 Rocky Mountain Instinct? Seems high!
