As the short travel XC/Trail category heats up, things are getting pretty interesting. Thanks to a new crop of bikes that are designed to be as fun as they are efficient, riders who would prefer something with less travel have more options than ever. Options like the new Yeti SB100. While the premise of the Switch Infinity suspension system is still the same, the SB100 frame employs it in a new way. Now tucked behind the seat tube with a bolt on cover to keep out the crud, the system has been redesigned specifically for use with 100mm of travel. Not only does it offer less travel, but it’s also lighter. Combine that with a 120mm fork up front and you should have an efficient ride that still likes to party. Like previous Yeti builds, there are two versions – the TURQ Carbon, and CARBON Carbon frames. TURQ bikes use the highest end carbon for the lightest build, while CARBON frames use slightly different carbon for a slightly heavier but more affordable frame with similar stiffness and performance.
Additionally, both frames includes a two bolt ISCG 05 mounting system, tapered integrated head tube, internally routed with molded tube cable routing, Boost spacing, downtube and chainstay protectors, plus clearance for a bottle cage inside the frame and room for long droppers. Running a PF92 bottom bracket, all complete builds run SRAM DUB cranksets.
Offered in the TURQ frame only for $3,400, there are also four complete builds priced from $5,999 with SRAM GX Eagle, to $8,999 with XX1 Eagle. Looking at the spec choices, you can tell that this is built to be more of an XC/Trail shredder with a Fox 34 120mm fork, Maxxis Minion DHF/Aggressor 2.3″ tires, full length Fox Transfer dropper posts, and 180/160mm rotors. Available in four sizes, the SB100 has a 67.8° head tube angle, 74..3-74° effective seat tube angle, and 437mm chainstays.
