We’ve zoomed in before on the YT Tues DH bike that Aaron Gwin has used to dominate the World Cup circuit. Well, Gwin has a new ride – a revamped Tues CF Pro – and he’s already won another World Cup with it. Go behind the scenes with the YT Mob for a closer look…

While Gwin and the YT Mob have been bombing downhill, YT Industries has been working closely with the team refining their race bike. YT also took input from Rampage superstars Cam Zink and Andreu Lacondeguy, to help the new bike cross-over as well for freeriding. With a first round World Cup win on the new bike last weekend in Lošinj, the next gen Tues is ready for its official debut.

Unsurprisingly, the new bike is an evolution in its design, carrying over much that made the previous bike so successful. What is does get is refined suspension kinematics and more modern geometry that offers more choice in selecting a rider’s ideal reach.

What’s new? Updated features on the new Tues

For the new frame, YT refined how the Virtual 4 Link suspension moved through its travel, better balancing how the frame’s kinematics and the shocks hydraulic damping curves and spring rates work together. The new design is based on new low leverage ratio that improves small bump compliance for improved grip.

Then the rapidly rising spring curve of the new Fox Float X2 shock delivers mid-stroke support for the bulk of the bike’s travel. YT was also able to tune down some of the frame’s end-of-stroke progression balanced by the new shock’s own bottom out resistance.

The new Tues now also gets five front center length options (S-XXL), with lowered toptubes across the board. This gives riders more freedom to pick the reach they want thanks to extra standover height.

Tech details

The new Tues design carries over the basic 200mm travel Horst-link four-bar design, but now the new upper link gets a closed in cover on the driveside, open from the other side to access the bearing pivots. The bikes all then get paired with 203mm DH forks.

Both specs available for the 27.5″ wheeled DH racer share the same high modulus carbon construction frame with 150 x 12mm rear spacing and molded-in downtube, chainstay & seatstay protection.

Build Options, Pricing & Availability

The top-level $5500/5500€ Tues CF Pro Race comes either in the new YT Mob Edition red, white & blue of the standard liquid metal silver & orange that Gwin raced last season, at a claimed 15.2kg/33.5lb (S, without pedals). The pro-level build includes a Fox 40 Float Factory fork & matching Float X2 Factory shock. Drivetrain is handled by a light machined steel e*thirteen cassette and LG1r carbon crank, plus SRAM X01 DH 7-speed shifting.

The $4000€ Tues CF Pro gets all-black Performance Elite versions of the Fox 40 & Float X2, again with the e*thirteen cassette, an LG1+ forged alloy crank, and GX DH rear derailleur – just 200g heavier than the Race build.

All of the bikes are available to order now from YT’s direct-to-consumer site. They also all include a torque wrench, allen keys, shock pump, and anti-slip carbon paste so riders can easily set their bikes up at home. Depending on sizing, color & spec, you may be able to get your bike in the first week of May, or could have to wait until late September. Choose wisely.

do you have more info on that ‘machined’ e.13 cassette? Also, what kind of torque wrench comes with it? I’m assuming the cheap (and not nearly accurate) beam-style similar to the Canyon one?
