A new update to Zipp’s most popular aluminum aerobar extension adds adjustability to get a more neutral wrist position for many riders, with new 70mm and 110mm rise options. The update claims reduction in drag and rider strain in the aero position with an end result of overall better aerodynamics and faster times. Higher positions offered by the new extensions let riders put their hands close together and closer to their head/body for a quicker/smoother transition of airflow to the rider. The new ergonomics were the result of a collaboration with several top bike fitters, and Zipp claims the new shape is supposed to make the rider feel like they are “shaking hands with the bar” for a more natural fit. A variable radius bend in the bar and 20mm of inward rotation can be rotated in the extensions to get that perfect comfy fit in the hands.

The two new rise options – 70mm and 110mm – use a 22.2mm diameter so they can also be paired with standard clips, and can be mounted on top of or below the bar for an ideal, customized fit. They can mount above the base bar with the Vuka Alumina Clip, Vuka Aero, or Vuka Stealth, or below with the Vuka Alumina Clip. Zipp even has a nice free Vuka Fit app to help riders get started with setup.

The 6066 aluminum extensions get internal cable routing, and include both internal cable routing plugs and aero end caps. Both Vuka Alumina Extensions come 360mm long (and can be cut to as shirt as 270mm) and get 2omm of inboard roll. The Evo-110s get 110mm of rise and weigh 180g, while the Evo-70s rise 70mm and weigh 176g. Both will retail for $60/€63/£48 (for the extensions only) and will be available to customers by themselves in September 2015, or with the above or below bar mounting Vuka Alumina Clips.
