Hot on the heels of Thom’s run down of the 2011 SKS line highlights, comes the announcement from SKS that all 2011 snap on fenders will now include adapters/cones that will make them compatible with 1.5″ tapered steerer tubes. This means that the Shockboard, Shockblade, Shockblade Vario, Grand DAD, and Dashboard Snap on fenders will all be compatible with newer tapered forks.
Even better news, is the fact that if you have already purchased one of the above models and are in need of an adapter, simply ask your SKS dealer to call SKS and request one. Which in turn, SKS will then send the needed adapter free of charge!
Of course, with bicycle technology changing rapidly, there is a need for ancillary parts such as fenders to adapt quickly as well to stay compatible. As such, it is nice to see companies like SKS stepping up to fill in the voids.
On a similar note of hard to fit fenders, if you are looking for full coverage fenders for your 29’r, Planet Bike’s 29 inch Cascadia fenders are now in stock and shipping from places like QBP. Frankly, I’m surprised it has taken this long, but better late then never, right?
So there you have it, all of your new mountain bike fender needs to go out and tackle the slushy, salty, wintery conditions. Have fun!
