2012 SR Suntour Axon RC carbon fiber suspension fork

SR Suntour’s Crankworx booth had plenty of forks laid out, but it was this full carbon lower XC fork that stood out.

The Axon RC is a new model with full carbon fiber lowers and options for an alloy (shown) or carbon crown/steerer. It’ll be available this fall, and a 29er version is in the works. As expected, it’s an air fork with fully sealed cartridge internals, so there’s no oil or chemicals in contact with the carbon fiber legs. It has external compression, rebound and lockout controls and their slick 15mm thru-axle, which is detailed after the break along with the rest of the fork…

It’ll come with fixed (but changeable) 80, 100 or 120, or with their Adjust-on-the-Fly system for external travel adjust on the trail.

OK, so technically it’s not totally fully carbon lowers. The dropouts are bonded magnesium, and they’ll only come with 15mm thru axle to start, likely with both straight 1-1/8″ and tapered steerer tubes

External compression and rebound damping controls plus lockout.

2012 SR Suntour Axon RC carbon fiber suspension fork Q-LOC thru axle

It has their Q-LOC quick release thru axle. Open the quick release lever then simply depress the gray bezel to squish the red spring and slide the axle out. Once you’ve set the desired clamping force the first time, there’s no more twisting or threading to use it. Super simple and very quick.

MSRP will be around $1100, but final price is TBD. Weight with the alloy crown/steerer is 3lbs 6oz (~1,530g).
