Not that long ago, we got a chance to check out the all new Ellsworth Dare downhill bike at Interbike. The yet to be finished bike was being shown just after BST Synergy Nano announced that they had purchased the noteworthy brand. All clad in carbon and sporting 27.5″ wheels, the new gravity line consists of the Dare we saw in Vegas plus the Moment and the Method.

Details on the new rides are pretty limited, but there are pictures and prices next…

One of the more interesting features of the Dare we saw at Interbike was the fact that the bike was designed to be run in 225, 180, or 160mm of travel. Now the new Dare is listed at 200mm of travel, while the Method is set at 180mm, and the Moment at 160mm. Given that the Dare was designed essentially to run all three travels and all three bikes are available in the same three colors, we wouldn’t be surprised to find out that these are the same frames just built into different bikes. If that turns out to be the case that could mean an all mountain bike for most of the year, and a park bike for a few weekends with a couple extra suspension parts.

Currently listed as framesets only that are available for pre-order, we hear these may be arriving as early as the start of 2015. The frames are also only listed for pre-order in medium or large sizes – we’re looking into whether there will be additional sizes offered any time soon. Frame prices start with the Moment at $3,395 and go up from there to the $3,795 Dare. We’re also guessing that single crown Fox 40 is really just a mistake in the graphics department… Update with correct graphic.

Always thought Ellsworth’s suspension design looked… a bit dated. But damn these bikes look good, and I’ve heard great things from everyone who has ridden one.

Ellsworth is a strange one.

On one hand, the bikes looks so… 1997.

But they ride soooooo nice.

I owned a 2003 dare a few years ago (The one with tribal tattoo design on it) and it rode incredibly! I think its quite short sighted to say they look dated, I think these one look as modern and up to date as any other DH rig.

Indeed, the decals on those singlecrowns fox forks say “40”!

I think those forks are photoshopped on to the bike buy a marketing/design employee who has no idea about mountain bikes and aren’t even real forks on a real bike.

These looks nicer than the previous models, but I don’t know if I’m wrong or the chainring is soo huge for be only one. Also the pictures are from their website, they show the same fake decals, shame for the brand owners to let a guy without idea of mtb.
