If there were any “complaints”, and I use that term loosely, I’d have about the new SRAM Red eTAP wireless shifting, it’s that the Blips remote buttons can make for some wonky bar taping to integrate them onto the flats. And, until now, there was no official way to mount them without using the bar tape or some sort of double-stick tape to keep them in place.

The new BlipClamps solve that problem for standard drop road handlebars, and the BlipGrips provide bar-end mounts for triathlon/TT aero extensions. Blip down for the tech specs and more pics…

The BlipClamps provide a fixed mounting option for the buttons on the flats of any 31.8mm clamp handlebar. They’re designed to fit just outside the area where the bar tape typically ends. Mount them in any orientation depending on if you prefer finger or thumb operation.

They’re made of lightweight (12g/pair) polypropylene and retail for just $15 (€10/£10).

The BlipGrips slide on the ends of standard 22.2mm OD aero or base bars. They’re a mix of polypropylene and TPE and weigh in at a claimed 57g without Blips. Retail is $20 (€20/£15). Neither include the Blip buttons with them, but both are available now.

Check out our full weigh-in for the group here, and technical details from its launch here and here.

That’s great that they’re available now, even though you can’t really buy the group yet

How about some neat Sram/Zipp integration?!

Wonder if an XX/XX1 pulley/jockey wheel cage could be retrofitted to the eTap RD. Would be awesome to set up an eTap 1×11 system for XC purposes. Reckon Fairwheel Bikes will do it soon enough though…
