Danish design firm MOEF thought if a bicycle helmet looked more appealing to kids, they’d be more likely to wear one. Because, you know, statistics like every five hours a kid sustains a head injury means zero to the youth. But looking cool? That might strike a chord.
Technically fashioned after a Playmobil hair piece, the resemblance to LEGO hair pieces is similar enough to reach any kid regardless of their building block preference. The shape was created by 3D scanning the toy hair, then 3D printing an oversized replica. Video below…
It’s a one-off prototype for now but is being used to test whether children will voluntarily reach for a helmet if they like the design.
