Rounding out our visit to Look’s booth is their new 996 full suspension carbon fiber mountain bike.  With 100mm travel and a 5.5lb (2500g) frame weight w/ Rock Shox Monarch 4.2 rear shock, it’s on par with most “race” bikes in terms of travel and frame weight.  Read “more” for closeup pics, pricing, etc…
The SLX version shown here (Pro Team) will retail for $4200, or you can get the frame/headset/shock for $2500 and build it up yourself.
The rear uses a set up similar to the DW-Link on Pivot bikes.
The front end is beefy looking with hard curves, giving it the strong, sexy look.
The backend is finished with machined dropouts and replaceable derailleur hanger.  The other new thing from Look for mountain biking is new colors (red and…..white!) for their Quartz pedals, shown below.
These white pedals have a bit of a StormTrooper look to them. Actually, with all the white bits that everyone’s offering, you could just about build a completely white bike, which would be kinda cool…hmmm.
