In an flawless team performance, Columbia-HTC’s 24-year-old Mark Cavendish was led to the finish line in 3rd wheel with about 500m to go.  One by one, his teammates peeled off, and with about 100m or so, ColuCavendish opened the throttle and won the sprint uncontested, taking his first stage win for the 2009 Tour de France.
Overall, there are no changes to the General Classification overall standings as the whole field finished as a group in 4:30:02.  Cancellara remains in Yellow for tomorrow’s Stage 3 from Marseille to La Grande Motte. Hit ‘more’ for today’s stage results and tomorrow’s TV schedule…
