Saxo Bank’s J.J. Haedo edged out Cervelo Test Team’s Thor Hushovd for today’s Stage 4 win and took the overall leader’s jersey at the 2009 Tour of Missouri.

Floyd Landis gave an early attack, but was reeled in.  Then four riders pulled off the front for a break that lasted most of the day, but they, too, were pulled in by Garmin-Slipstream, Columbia-HTC and Cervelo leading the pace in the peloton.

A crash in the last couple of miles split the peloton (and brought down Hincapie and Sebastian Haedo, among others), giving Cervelo the chance to move Hushovd to the front.  As they rolled around the final lap, the race covered the full width of the street.  Hushovd jumped early…too early…and faded just enough to allow J.J. Haedo to come around his wheel and take the stage win and leader’s jersey from him.
