PRESS RELEASE: POC has received the Eurobike Award for the Cortex DH anti-rotational violence downhill helmet. A lightweight advanced carbon shell wrapped over our patent-pending aramid reinforced in-mold liner. The liner has a thin shell of polycarbonate covering the multi-impact Super EPP core. The double overlapping shell design, our patented VDSAP, allows a fully ventilated construction for maximum comfort without sacrificing penetration resistance or impact energy management. The helmet is also equipped with the patented MIPS system to reduce the rotational forces on the brain in the case of an oblique impact. In the Cortex DH helmet, nothing has been neglected to attain the highest possible level of protection.
“The issue of rotational violence to one’s brain when crashing is major. The load transmitted to the brain due to the rotational violence is severe and is especially crucial to prevent at high speeds on gnarly terrain, like in downhill mountain biking and when jumping big. Thanks to a collaboration with MIPS, a Swedish entity that’s researched these aspects for more than 10 years, POC is proud to launch the world’s first bike helmet using the MIPS technology” says Stefan Ytterborn CEO and founder of POC.
