Interbike 2009 – Oakley Women’s Sunglasses

INTERBIKE 2009 – Oakley has really looked out for the women this year with six new styles. Everything from sport optics to high fashion. The Compulsive (above) and the Commit (below), are already available. The four other styles featured here, The Encounter, Forsake, Trouble and Correspondent will be available soon.

The COMPULSIVE has a frameless continuous lens design. The arms are stress-resistant O Matter® material with integrated Unobtanium® ear socks. Sculpturally integrated Die Cast stainless steel lugs, nosepiece and hinge mechanisms, and metal icons. The Compulsive also comes in a “Squared” lens option in all of the colors.

As expected from Oakley, these new glasses have optical precision and performance that meets all ANSI Z87.1 standards, impact resistance that meet all ANSI Z80.3 standards, UV protection of Plutonite® lens that filters out 100% of UVA / UVB / UVC & harmful blue light up to 400nm, and an optional glare reduction and tuned light transmission of IRIDIUM® lens coating.

COMMIT

The Commit is a women’s specific sports optic with interchangeable lenses. The lenses are available in a range of colors and either the SQ “squared” or AV “aviator inspired” shapes. Oakley enhanced the lenses with a permanent coating called Oakley HYDROPHOBICâ„¢, a marvel of science that repels dust while maintaining a smudge-resistant barrier against skin oils, finger prints, lotions and sunscreens and even repels water to prevent streaks and sheens from corrupting your vision.

ENCOUNTER

The Encounters are essentially the new Minutes; a sporty frame perfect for smaller faces. The Encounters offer all the same bells and whistles that Oakley is known for. Such as the three point fit, lightweight O matter frames, hydrophilic Unobtanium® earsocks and nosepads, and availability with Oakley prescription lenses.

FORESAKE

The Forsake has a continuous lens design and all the Oakley who-ha, not including the prescription lens option. The arms on the Forsake have the same integrated hydrophilic Unobtanium® earsock design as the Compulsive, giving them a secure fit for both fashion and function. Also like the Compulsive, Trouble and Correspondent, the Forsake has a gradient lens option with a varied field of light transmission from top to bottom.

TROUBLE

Like the Forsake, the Trouble features a continuous lens and all the Oakley technology including gradient lens options. The metal icon has been moved to the end of the arms on the Trouble and only the nose piece uses the hydrophilic Unobtanium®.

CORRESPONDENT

The Correspondent is another new “life style” design that offers all the Oakley technology including the prescription option. It also features a stylish metal band between the frames and arms. They are the only new frame that offers different frame/ arm colors. No mention has been made as to wether or not the Correspondent will be added to Oakley’s Customizable line, but it clearly lends itself to the possibility.
