You drooled over that Avalanche White limited edition EPS from Pista Palace, so here’s the antithesis: Colnago’s own limited-time-only Matte Black EPS road frame.

Colnago America’s Western Sales Manager Shane Winn says: “The matte black finish shaves about 60 grams off the frame.  This is less about shaving weight however, and more about providing a special paint scheme that people across the planet were salivating over this past summer and fall as the prototype made its way around the trade show circuit. What we’ve delivered is a stealth weapon into the EPS arsenal.”

It’s available via special order for a limited time…meaning if you want one, you won’t find it sitting around the shop floor unless your LBS really wanted one, too. So you better find your local dealer and lay down the deposit.  The frameset retails for $5,599 and includes frame, fork, headset (Colnago brand) and matching matte black seatpost.

Sneak past the break for more details on the paint finish and full frame pic…

The matte black finish comes from a lighter, matte paint / clear coat.  Even though the bike looks very much like a nude carbon frame, it’s protected just as well as any painted frame Colnago offers.  It just looks super sweet.

The fork is a tapered 1-1/8″ to 1-1/4″ steerer tube for additional stiffness, and the frame is the same top of the line Colnago EPS road frame made of High Modulus carbon fiber and carbon lugs.  The cherry on top is Ernesto Colnago’s signature on the top tube.

If you didn’t get in on the first round of bikes, you’re looking at about a 4- to 6-week delivery from time or order, possibly slightly longer.

Matte black is the new white.

I much prefer this to the typical clown-vomit Colnago paint jobs… Sweet!

I don’t understand why companies make this stuff limited edition. I quote “people across the planet were salivating over… “, to me that says you have a market demand that wants to be filled. Look at Pinarello, their BOB is never in the last years left overs.
