Intense has thrown some images of this prototype Tracer 29er into the wild…and prototype it is. Designed to replace the current Tracer 29er, it brings some fresh technology to the frame to increase the ways you can use it. They’re still working on final travel specs, but it’ll end up somewhere between 5″ and 6″ in the rear with hopefully matching front. At the moment, long travel single-crown 29er fork options are a bit limited, and from the forum posts on MTBR, it seems like that’s weighing heavily on the development process.
Other than that, there are some details that seem to be nailed down, and we’ve got a LOT more photos after the break…
Initially, three sizes will be offered. Top tubes will be be 23.5″ (M), 24.75 (L) and 26″ (XL). Size Medium shown.
The Tracer 29er will use Intense’s G2 dropout with options for all the popular combos: 150 X12, 135x 12, QR skewer and the new 142×12. The dropouts also allow you to set two different chainstay lengths: 17.7″ and 18.0″.
The rear triangle is redesigned but still built around the VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) suspension design. Hammerschmidt and chainguard fans won’t be disappointed…ISCG mounts will provide plenty of drivetrain options.
Up front, the headtube is going to be a full 1.5″ tube, which gives you the option to run pretty much any fork you want with adapters and adjust the head angle with new-style adjustable headset cups.
It’s hard to see, but there appear to be two shock mount positions on the link, giving you the ability to change rear travel.
Front derailleur is direct mount.
