Camelbak has updated their NV series hydration packs, which includes the Mule, Hawg and a new Luxe women’s pack, with raised articulating pods that keep the pack off your back and claim to offer massive breath ability.
The 3D pods have a perforated foam panel behind a light mesh that floats above a soft rounded body with its own vents. The same foam padding is used in the shoulder straps for lightweight, breathable cushioning.

From the side you can see each pod sits about 1.5″ off your back.
From the top, you see a center air channel and small vents to let heat and moisture pass through.
One feature that riders have been asking for according to Camelbak marketing manager Seth Beiden is some sort of helmet capture. Rather than sew in a bulky net or additional expanding panel, they added simple plastic hooks on each side for helmet chin straps to clip into. Beiden says they work equally well for lightweight XC lids, full face helmets and ski or climbing helmets, too.
The Mule gets a built in rain cover and small side pockets on the waist belt.
