2013 Sugoi RSE road bike bibshorts and jersey

Sugoi’s top level RSE road bibs/shorts and jersey get revamped with new materials and chamois, and the RSX mountain bike kit gets super lightweight shell shorts and a cold-feel jersey.

Above, the RSE’s leg and arm openings have MAP elastic bands, which has a slightly abraded surface on the inside to make it grippy without a thick silicone band. Cut is tight, aimed at the serious roadie. Also available in black shorts with white leg bands and a white jersey.

Edges and a few other sections use bonded hems for a smooth, seam-free finish that won’t chafe. The rear radio pocket is bonded and has a mesh cover.

The bibs and shorts come padded with their new FXE chamois. It uses a thin gel layer (directly under the white part) with a lighter, less dense foam (gray) over it that’s shaved to shape rather than compression molded. Cover is seamless with a dimpled, perforated top foam to aid breathability.

Retail is $180 jersey and shorts, $230 bibs. These have a women’s equivalent, and, along with the RSX below, are available in January.

Top level RSX mountain bike kit uses Ice-Fil for the primary jersey material (blue). It’s a xylitol-infused fabric with a flatter weave to help dissipate heat and has a cooling effect on the skin’s surface. It’s more about comfort than true performance benefits, but it helps the mind game.

Cut is semi-fitted and has a bonded pocket on the back. Inside soft panel to wipe your sunglasses on the left, too. Retail is $100, and it’ll also be available in white and black.

RSX baggy shorts have an ultra lightweight shell material with a bonded hem at the legs so there’s no seam rubbing your thighs. Mesh panels on the front vent air into the Ice-Fil liner to help keep you feeling cool. Snap/zip closure with elastic back section and BOA system to snug up the waist. $180. Also available in a gray/blue combo.
