GT’s complete 2013 lineup is, of course, much more extensive than this, but we asked GT global marketing manager Chris Hopwood to share the highlights for the road and cyclocross bikes here, MTB will be posted separately.

The Type CX is an older name plate that used to be raced by Todd Wells. It had moved away from the Triple Triangle design, but now it’s back. Hopwood says the design not only keeps the GT aesthetic, but it provides a nice shoulder rest.

Three models are offered, the top two with disc brakes only and a double butted frame. Top model is spec’d with 105 and a carbon fork. The lower end frame will be straight gauge tubing with canti brakes but have disc tabs, too. It’ll also have full fender and rack mounts. Retail is $1,000 to $2,000, making even the top end model a great entry point to disc brake cross bikes.

No rack mounts on the carbon fork…

…but even the top end frame gets rear rack mount. They’re spec’d with Hayes’ CX5 mechanical disc brakes.

2013 GT ROAD BIKES

2013 GT Edge titanium road bike

The Edge titanium road bike comes back as a frameset only. Frame is 3/2.5 with a tapered headtube that’s shaped to match the lines of the fork.

Hopwood says it’s not a soft frame, it’ll hammer and has a stiff front end, but won’t totally beat you up. Frame is bare with no decals and polished logo, brake bridge and dropouts.

Frameset will retail for $2,000 with full carbon fork.

2013 GT GTR Di2 carbon fiber road bike

The GTR road bike gets a top of the line GTR Ultra frame that’s Di2 specific. It’ll come with Ultegra Di2, FSA SL-K cranks and Ultegra road tubeless wheels for $4,999.

Nice! But I’m nostalgic enough to regret that the Ti frame isn’t polished to give it the look of the old Zaskar line and their Al road frames from back in the day (I raced on one of Julie Furtado’s old whips for a few months).
