As we’ve mentioned before, while TRP’s HyRd and Spyre road disc brakes seem to be getting all the attention, their 4 piston mountain bike disc brake might be the surprise in the line up. Even more so now that we’ve seen the SL version at FrostBike with its carbon lever and blinged out black chrome finish. In addition to the SL Quadiem, there is also a new white version of the non – SL brake even though up to this point it’s all been black. There aren’t many more detail on the brakes, but we were able to get the SL on the scale after the break.
333g with the pad spacer installed, which puts it right in line with Shimano’s Zee brakes at 329g.
TRP wasn’t sure if the reach adjusters would remain as is for production, but the SL has a petal shaped knob, while the white non-SL has the red knurled knob with o-ring we’ve seen before.
TRP has also been working on a two piece rotor, though availability wasn’t known.
