Bolle 6th Sense (3)

Famed ski goggle manufacturer Bolle had a number of different products on display at their booth at Interbike. Amongst them was their 6th Sense sunglasses, which are their premium cycling offering. The lenses are made from a newer material called Tribex, which is lighter and offers better optics than more common polycarbonate material used in other sports sunglasses.

All of Bolle’s lenses meet safety glasses standards for impacts, and are treated with oleophobic and hydrophobic lens coatings. They’re also available in a number of different tints, mirror finishes, or technologies (photochromatic, poloraized, etc…) Depending on lens selection, retail for the sunglasses is $160-200, while replacement lenses run between $55-75.

Each frame ships with a side shield which is removable. The shield sits just out of sight and does not actually impair side vision (seriously, I tried them on).

The sunglasses have a wire core temple and nose piece, so they can be bent and pinched to achieve the optimal fit.

Rather than making a “women’s specific” version of their premiere sunglasses, the company is offering them in two different sizes. The smaller of which has shorter temples. Both will be offered in a wide array of different colors.

Bolle Sports LifeStyle (1)

While Bolle’s first foray into sportswear was in ski goggles, they company is now most famous for their line of sports lifestyle sunglasses. Their range offers an incredible amount of value for the price when compared to Luxottica brands.

The frames are all fabricated in Italy and feature unique details and color accents.

The lenses are poloraized, and also treated with an oleophobic and hydrophobic coats, to help prevent smudges and water build up (respectively). The full range of sunglasses are currently available on Bolle’s online webstore and at select outdoor retailers.

Request: Whenever you present/review glasses, please also mention whether they can be had with prescription. Important for many readers, is my guess. (Seems possible on the ones at the end here, not the first ones.) Best regards from an ex contacts user.

Most Bolle sunglasses can be had with prescription lenses using the company’s B-Thin Active Design Rx program . Bolle just introduced a new program that allows shield type lenses (like the 6th Sense) to be fitted with an Rx section that’s fitted directly into the lens.
