Kenda unveiled the Saber XC racing mountain bike tire at the Taipei Cycle Show, and now we’ve got a little more info on the casings on these ultralight treads.
It’ll come in 2.0 and 2.20 widths for both 29″ and 27.5″, shipping this fall. The more durable casing option is the SCT (sealant compatible), which they say will be just under 500g for the 29×2.0.
About 100g lighter than the SCT is the Tubeless Race, which uses a tubeless bead but without the extra sidewall density to be lighter. The trade off is it initially requires more sealant to set up.
Need something bigger and beefier? The enduro-ready Nexcavator will soon have a number of 27.5 x 2.4 options…
First, a few more looks at the Saber.
The Nexcavator 27.5 x 2.4 will come in four different casing constructions, with three of them available by late summer. The SLGC (super light gravity casing) is still in testing under their Pros and will be a bit behind. Look for dual compound rubber on top, folding beads and weights probably between 800 and 900 grams.
