Inno Racks has introduced new fork mounts for their roof trays and aero base rack system that slot and lock directly into the base bars for a clean, smooth appearance.
The nose of the system is a little longer and more aerodynamic than before, too, and the locking and release mechanism is fairly clever. For their hitch mount and full upright roof racks, the wheel hoops have received a welcome update to the adapters, making it much easier to switch between wheel sizes. Mount up and check the pics and details below…
When closed, a single key locks the entire system, keeping the skewer clamped tightly on the fork and the tray locked inside the cross bar.
Unlock it and flip the cover open the allow the axle’s release handle to be opened. This also provides access to the mounting bolts that attach it to the cross bar.
Unlike many other brand’s trays that use straps and dials to hold the trays onto the cross bars, Inno Rack’s trays slot into the groove on the top of their aero base bars and bolt down. The rubber seals in the base bar are cut to fit around it, or possibly just mashed down. It’s a much more streamlined approach with a much better aesthetic. It also means a single lock handles everything.
Also new is the carbon-look print on their rooftop cargo boxes.
We reviewed the Tire Hold hitch mount tray rack from Inno last year and really liked it. It’s versatile, holds the bike without adjustment straps and without touching the frame or fork at all. The one inconvenience was adjusting it to fit different size tires. The old system involved pulling pins (that could be difficult at times) to move the adapter up or down, allowing it to capture tires from 20″ up to 29ers and moderately sized 4-point-something fat bike tires (barely).
The new system, shown above and below, simply slides and notches into place, making for much quicker, easier adjustments without additional pins. When closed around a tire, the pressure keeps it locking into place.
They said it stays put even when not in use, but without pins, we’d probably store the hooks inside the car if not transporting a bike just to be sure. This new system will be integrated into all of their Tire Hold racks, from roof to hitch to truck bed trays.
