Action cameras have come a long way for both pros and average Joes allowing them to relive their greatest experiences, but they haven’t always been easy to use. With the first generation of cameras, you basically had to point it in the general direction you wanted to film and hoped you got the shot. Of course with each successive generation camera technology has improved, all the while making it easier than ever to get the shot.
When GoPro introduced the Hero 4, one of the biggest advancements was the addition of a built in LCD touch screen. Now you could not only easily frame the shot, but you could also control the camera with ease. The news today isn’t that an LCD touch screen enabled GoPro exists, but that you can now pick one up for just $300…
Called the Hero+ LCD, the newest camera slots in between the Hero 4 Silver and the Hero 3+. In order to get the price down while including the much appreciated LCD screen, the Hero+ LCD doesn’t quite have the hardware specs of the 3+ but it still offers full 1080P filming in 60, 50, 30, and 25 fps in the Ultra Wide FOV. Also available are the 720p and 720p SuperView modes while photos are limited to 8mp.
Otherwise, the Hero+ LCD is still waterproof to 131′ (40m), and offers easy control and shot framing through the LCD touchscreen. After filming with Jeff Lenosky this weekend with a Hero 4, we can vouch for the drastically improved functionality of the camera provided by the LCD screen. Now easier than ever to make your clips into published videos, the Hero+ LCD includes the HiLight Tagging and video trimming features as well as Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity built into the camera.
