Using Samsung VR or Google Cardboard on an Android device, you can now check out a new 360º 3D experience from Lexus feature Christian Vande Velde on why he loves cycling. The 360º video (above) should also play back on updated Chrome and Firefox browsers (won’t work on Safari). From Lexus:

“Lexus Elevate” is an immersive 360-degree film experience using the Samsung Gear VR + Samsung Galaxy S6 that tells the story of why pro cyclist Christian Vande Velde loves the sport.

“Lexus Elevate” is the next step in virtual reality. It’s not just a technical experiment using 360-degree video technology or a simple single camera setup but has a beautiful narrative that puts you in the mind and saddle of one of the world’s greatest cyclists from an unprecedented perspective. Advertising agency of record Team One and production studio UNIT9 helped develop the filmmaking techniques and produce the film.

If you’re attending the U.S. Pro Cycling Challenge August 17–23 in Colorado, you’ll be able to watch it using Samsung Gear VR at the Lexus Finish Festivals. You can also catch the trailer below in NormalVision…

No mention of this being filmed on a closed course and blatant abuse of not respecting the double line on a blind corner. Way to set a bad example!

CVV was only ‘great’ cos he got on the hot sauce. Lots of other riders equally good who decided to stay natty and stay oblivious.
