Fox Rampage Pro Carbon with MIPS, display

While it isn’t exactly trying to compete with Interbike, Crankworx annually features a large demo zone and a few dozen exhibitors tents scattered throughout the village. The event also tends to serve as an introduction for new bikes or products, especially gravity-oriented stuff like the Rocky Mountain Maiden we also previewed early this year.

There were quite a few display booths at Crankworx with some nifty things to be found by snooping reporters. Fox has stepped into the MIPS game with their new Rampage Pro Carbon DH helmet, and had an awesome custom painted Rampage on display at their booth. Drop in for more…

Fox Rampage Pro Carbon with MIPS, matte black

It’s always hard to argue with the idea of better protection, so Fox has now implemented the MIPS system in the new Rampage Pro Carbon DH lids. This model is Fox’s first to use the MIPS system, but there were some not uncertain murmurs of an XC lid that’s also on the way… but it’ll be a while yet.

The Rampage steps up to compete with several other brands high-end models that have adopted the MIPS system, which is essentially a floating inner layer that helps protect your brain against rotational forces in an impact. MIPS has been implemented in the Rampage Pro Carbon helmet only, with no such upgrade for the non-carbon models.

Fox had this awesome custom painted Rampage helmet on display with a crazy wood motif and Crankworx logo on the back. It will be given away to a very lucky contest winner, who hopefully wears a size medium.

The Rampage Pro carbon with MIPS will be sold in three color schemes – matte black, blue/red, or red/black. The MIPS helmets are available now, and cost $363 USD (price converted from CDN).

Just about anything is a TLD killer if you’re not colourblind.

Hasn’t Fox had MIPS in their DH helmet for almost a year now?
