At one time or another we all travel with our bike(s) and may even ship them to a destination every so often. Our bikes are fine tuned machines that many of us are proud of and anytime we ship or pile them against other bikes, we wince a little with every jostle and bump.
The folks at Bopworx tried different things like using towels and even gloves to protect their bikes (and reduce wincing). After searching and finding nothing better than those makeshift cushions, they decided there should be a better solution to protect our two wheeled investments.
Don’t want any scratches on your baby? Maybe it’s time to use new protection…
Bopworx has launched on Kickstarter to get these products off the ground. If you go into your garage or climate controlled bicycle sanctuary and look at the rear stays of your bikes, often you will see little scrapes or scratches from nothing more than being parked or stacked with other bicycles. The Bike Bumper and Double Bumper attach to the frames to protect against this very situation. The single Bike Bumper is a pad that simply straps onto the frame and is designed to protect the bike from things like the inside of a shipping box. The Double Bumper has a strap on both sides and rotates in the middle so 2 bikes can be attached and protected from each other.
One of the most vulnerable and sensitive to change parts on our bike is the rear derailleur. The slightest pressure against it can throw it off just enough to ruin your ride, and The Rear Derailleur Guard was developed to prevent that from happening. To attach it, you simply loosen the rear quick release on the rear wheel, slip it in, and re-tighten it. Like the Bike Bumpers, its made of strong impact resistant materials and has a stainless tab that attaches it to the rear axle. Only compatible with quick release wheels, a Bike or Double Bumper might do the job on thru axle equipped bikes.
Bopwrap protects much of the main parts of the bike and unlike towels or foam padding attaches securely without tools and can be reused several times.
The Fork Guard protects your bicycle’s forks from damage when cramming the bike in the back of the car, a bike case, or simply in storage. The soft rubber finish prevents cuts and scrapes on the interior of your vehicle as well. The wheels roll on the Fork Guard making loading into your vehicle a whole lot easier and is much more stable than just the bottom of your forks on the ground. A detachable caliper spacer keeps your disc brake pistons from closing if you have disc brakes, yet snaps cleanly out of the way if you don’t need it.
The Fork Guard has been developed for universal use with all bicycle types and has been specifically designed to work with any new axle standards that might come out in the future. It comes standard with adapters for quick release and 15mm through axles, with other axle sizes sold separately.
To be used in conjunction with the Fork Guard, the Fork Stand is an easy to use stand for performing basic bike maintenance or washing. It folds easily out of the way making it easy to store and ship with your bike to your destination.
