Riding a bike in the winter is fun. Riding in the winter with warm feet is even better. As one of the big players in winter cycling footwear, 45NRTH made a name for themselves with their original Wölvhammer winter boot. Like so many things, as fat biking and winter riding has evolved so have the Wölvhammer boots. The latest version takes advantage of an entirely new upper to make the boots more comfortable and durable for harsh winter climates…
Receiving a complete upgrade to the upper, the Wölvhammer has gotten rid of the zipper and has moved to a single layer boot construction. The change is said to allow for a wider range of fit while retaining the warmth of the original.
In place of the zipper, the Wölvhammer moves to a gusseted tongue with a drawstring closure and Velcro cuff. The boot still uses a full grain leather and ballistic nylon shell with a waterproof membrane to keep things dry and warm from 0°F to 25°F. There is also a dedicated hook on the toe for gaitors like the 45NRTH Bergaven.
The Wölvhammer Will be sold in one model with an SPD compatible Vibram sole and a plug to use with platform pedals. Sold in size 38 to 50 (no 49), Wölvhammers Will be available in late September for $325.
