The new FFWD F3 wheels replace the F2 with a slightly deeper rim. Rim depth is now 30mm, up from 25, and the shape is both stiffer and more aero. Weights are good, too, at a claimed 1,195g for the tubular (1265g disc) and 1,395g for clinchers (1465g disc). Outside width is 22.4mm on both, the same dimension as the rest of their carbon wheel lineup.
The F3 series also gets a new CBT 3H brake track that blends three different materials, including copper, with a high TG resin into the carbon to both handle high braking heat and help temperature plummet immediately after braking to improve the safety and performance of carbon clincher braking.
The rim brake models get 20 spokes up front and 24 in the rear, while disc brake wheels get 24 on both ends. Rim brakers give you the choice of FFWD hubs (made by DT Swiss), or DT’s 240 or 180 hubs. The disc brake wheels use DT240s with 12mm thru axle end caps. Both are available with red or white logos.
Tubulars ship in September and range from €1,498 to €1,898, and clinchers come a month later from €1,798 – €2,198.
