Todd on Fat Ripper

We showed you SE Racing’s Fat Ripper during our Interbike Coverage and the first batch of these bad boys bounced out the door faster than they could make them. In the mean time, while the 2nd batch is on its way, SE Racing threw down a RAD edit of SE Racing’s Brand Manager, Todd Lyons going on an urban warpath atop his creation.

Rip past the break and watch Todd show us a thing or two what a seasoned pro can do on what could be one of the funnest bikes of the year….

Drops, dirt jumps, off-road carnage, and urban everything went into this video. Retailing for $849, could this be your next “plus 1”?

Film/Edit: Aaron Nardi
Song: Erthizen – Public Enemy

Finally, a semi-not-lame fatbike.

Looks like it was great for manuals and drops. But you can see how much harder everything else is due to the weight. and if your gonna run that much tire pressure than what’s the point? Cool I guess.

The previous coverage here on BR showed the bike with Tektro disc brakes, I wonder how well they work… Fun and unusual concept, though!

Great riding

Looks like fun, but nothing new. Mongoose and others have a fat tire 26″ BMX bike. It’s all how you sugar coat and market the product.

Pretty sick video. I would love this bike if I was 15 or so. Will never forget the epic toughness of the SE bikes in the early 80s, the quadangle, pk ripper, landing gear fork, etc.

@Pit–“epic toughness”? You weren’t riding hard enough.

Lol. All SE frames broke, but they looked awesome. Thats why they were popular with the groms then and the collectors now. They came out with the hauler because toby henderson was breaking everything else they made faster than they could ship new frames to him. So they finally made a cromo frame with a traditional design for him.

Sigh… I really don’t want to be a troll but the bike industry makes it so hard. If you want to do the type of riding in this video, this is the wrong bike. I am not sure what problem this bike is solving.

I broke quite a few vintage SE products, using them for un-intended purposes, (street riding, freestylin, etc). The stuff rode well. Commented on what, ‘mac’ said, the Hauler was an import developed to meet a certain price point.

Freestyle legend Mat Hoffman used a PK just before he developed his own brand and is quoted as saying it ‘held up well’.

“Epic toughness”??? Are you s***ing me? PK Rippers were almost legendary for snapping. Of course we kept buying them because they were just that damn cool. 😉

The WildMan!!!

Todd Lyons has been killing it for so long. Seeing him rally this bike over doubles at Sheep was surreal. So rad!

looks fun. It’s kind of a 26+ BMTBX bike I guess? Very much an odd duck bike. You won’t be able to trick it like a traditional 26″ DJ, or ride it off road like a traditional fat bike. I could see it being a lot of fun doing slow technical trials stuff in an urban and off road environment.

This bike should really up your confidence when trying to bunnyhop up tall stuff with pointy edges. It will be harder to get the bike off the ground, but the consequences of failure will be lower.

What a great job, making updated versions of classic designs.

Pretty soon, their core customers will be buying “P.K. WALKERS”

Just kidding, Todd.
