Steve peat

For as long as I can remember, the name Steve Peat has been synonymous with the World Cup downhill circuit. And winning. As one of the most prolific DH racers of all time, he also seems to be one of the most genuine both on and off the track. After 2 decades of racing and putting in consistent efforts at the top level, Peaty is hanging it up. Well, after one more season of course…

From Cut Media:

Legendary mountain biker Steve Peat has something to say… Travelling to the Lofoten Islands Steve rides some of Norway’s finest trails set against the most epic of backdrops.

Thanks to Santa Cruz Bicycles and Five Ten for supporting the project.

Wow, what a stud. The fact that he’s been racing this long and doing so well says a lot. He’s been my favorite rider for many years; I even had the pleasure of riding with him up in Big Bear back in the day. Would love to see/hear him up in the announcer booth; even if only once in a while! Good luck on whatever comes next Peaty.

What a cool video. One of the legends of DH racing, I think I’ve got an old magazine from 1994 with Steve Peat in it. That’s the days of 50mm suspension travel. He’s been competitive through significant change in both courses and equipment over his career.

I forget what bike-porn video it was but it had a segment with Peatey. He talked about how he quit drinking thinking that it would make him faster. He said something like “I just wasn’t right in the head” so he went back to drinking pints and the speed came back. Raise your pints to Steve and may he go out with a championship next season.

Total rock star and love watching this guy compete. And thank you Troy Lee Designs for supporting Peatey all these years.
