Spanish bike maker BH adding to its broad range of clothing, glasses, and helmets has now debuted a new line-up of performance cycling shoes. They hit the pedals with three affordable shoes each for mountain bike and road riding, covering a wide range of riders. The Lite line-up provides a low-priced shoe for beginners, while the Super Lites step up to higher quality straps and a carbon-reinforced sole. Then the top EVO line offers premium retention and stiffer soles. Step past the break for a closer look…

The EVO mountain shoes are an ideal low-cost option for racing. They use a low-key black-on-black design with a perforated synthetic leather upper, and 2-dial adjustment. Their sole is carbon reinforced polyurethane for a blend of stiff power transfer and off the bike hike-a-bikability. They also have a premium plastic reinforced heel to keep prevent heel lift. The 130€ EVO MTB shoes also include an aggressive lugged sole with thread-on toe spikes.

The 100€ S.Lite shoes use the same reinforced TPU sole with aggressive lugs. The drop down in price comes from the use of two velcro straps and a ratcheting buckle, which still give good adjustment control, but the extra heel retention also gets dropped. The upper is still a synthetic leather, but adds more mesh for ventilation.

For just 70€ the Lite mountain shoes drop to a reinforced nylon sole, three standard velcro straps, but actually add back the heel retention cup for a surprising value.

A bit more expensive than the mountain shoe, the EVO road retails for 170€, but adds a full carbon sole. The EVO aesthetics carry over for the road, maybe a little more subdued. It uses a less ventilated perforated synthetic upper and the same 2-dial adjustment.

The S.Lite road shoes mimic the mountain side. The 100€ S.Lite shoes use a road version of the same reinforced TPU sole. The price drop again comes with the use of two velcro straps and a ratcheting buckle, and the heel retention gets dropped again.

The Lite road shoes are also just 70€ and keep the reinforced TPU road sole, and again add back the heel retention cup for another great value.

“Ground Control” eh? Guess that will keep them from coming state-side. Spesh’s attorney team would be all over that.

Those nylon reinforced budget shoes remind me of off the shelf aliexpress.com ones with logos on them.

S-Works black on black? These better be lighter or stiffer

Sworks can’t touch 130/170€ for carbon underfoot and a boa-esque retention. These have a market regardless of being lighter or stiffer.

I believe Specialized also has “EVO” trademarked too.

Actually it is DMT and Northwave they copied. Which is who Specialized copied

Just buy Sidi’s. The are bette made, last longer and are much more stylish. All of these brands try to enter the market with some lower price point that is really not that much lower than a well made shoe.

So the BH has the BOA closure. This means that have to pay a royalty to BOA so to keep the price low they sacrifice someplace else on the shoe to keep the cost down.

The reason I love Sidi is they have a proven track record on fit and durability. At $249.00 you can buy the Genius or Dominator that you know will fit well and hold top for years. Yes there are some people that might not fit into a Sidi. Probably .0001%.

The saddle and the shoe are the most important contact points on the bike so why would you not want the best and most comfortable you can get.

exactly, just get sidi, I got my drako’s for 225€. Truth is Sidi is going down in quality, big time. Their current dragon has no more real carbon sole and the fabric they use now it’s way cheaper and thinner.

these are not BOA, these are Atop, which are much less quality. Bont stopped used Atop dials as they were way less reliable.

Yeah, these guys are really asking for it from Specialized, squeezing “Ground Control” and “EVO” onto a somewhat visually similar product. Hopefully they know what they are doing with international trademark laws.

@Dave Sidi shoes are not for everyone and far from perfect. In fact they are grossly over rated in my book and I have owned a few pairs them! They make really nice road shoes not so much mountain. I rarely see people on the trail riding Sidi minus the roadies who want to muck it up!

@Pistolero, these dials are definitely not the version 1 Atop dials used previously by Bont. They look like BOA dials. BTW, there isn’t anything wrong with the V1 Atop dials. Bont just doesn’t secure them to their shoes very well. And the reliability issue with Bont continues even with their new dials.

Sidi shoes are nice, obviously, and they have a very loyal following, but they don’t fit everyone. I fall into that category. These shoes look tempting enough that I’d give them a dang good look before I buy my next pair of cycling shoes.
