2015 was a big year for PowerTap, having introduced a power measurement device for all parts of the bike. In addition to their original hubs, they introduced the P1 Power Meter Pedals and C1 Power Meter Chainring-and-Spider combo early in the year. Then they added a new disc brake version of the G3 in the summer.
Now, the G3 and GS hubs will start at just $599 beginning January 1, 2016. That’s a $190 discount off the hub itself, and similar savings should be seen on complete wheels, too. Virtually all hubs will now ship with their updated dual-band transmitter, which connects to both ANT+ and Bluetooth cycling computers or smartphones. The Dual Band end cap is also available separately as an upgrade for existing G3 and GS hub owners.
PowerTap claims a +/-1.5% accuracy rate on their hubs and, with last year’s gram reduction, a very competitively weighted way to add power measurement to your bike.
