Hot on the heels of Foundry’s announcement about the Flyover cyclocross bike, comes news of the company’s 2016 Overland gravel bike. The newly enhanced Overland retains all of the features that helped Neil Shirley take the win at the 2015 “Gravel World Championships” in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Overland receives some key updates, but its custom double butted 3AL/2.5V titanium frame, thru-axles, removable fender mounts, clearance for 700c x 41mm tires and geometry optimized for mixed surface riding all remains for 2016.



The Overland complete build features a SRAM Rival 22 drivetrain…

And a reduced price tag of $US 4,295.00, versus $US 4,695.00 in 2015.


The Overland is available as a frameset and like the complete build, includes a Whiskey No. 9 fork, DT RWS front and rear thru axles…


Cane Creek headset and seatpost collar.


All priced for $US 2,495.00.


In addition to a parts specification change and lower price on the complete bike, the Overland takes on a new raw titanium / Olive Green frame color with painted to match Whiskey No. 9 fork.


Catering to endurance gravel cycling, Foundry added back the third water bottle cage mount beneath the Overland’s downtube. The third bottle was shown initially on the first gen, but never made it to production.  Now that the Flyover is geared toward cross racing, the Overland is meant as a gravel specific bike and therefor sees the third cage location return.


Mechanical and wired electronic drivetrains are still supported by the 2016 Foundry Overland.


Available in five sizes from XS (52cm top tube) to XL (60cm top tube), Overland framesets and complete bikes will be hitting stores in May 2016.

  1. Why Foundry, why not the aesthetics of the Flyover (internal cables and I like that baby blue). Its such a beautiful bike but the Overland is the correct geo.

  2. High bottom bracket height, top tube cable routing, twitchy head tube angle, just another CX bike poorly rebadged as a gravel bike. Nothing to see here…

    • 68mm BB drop isn’t considered “high”. That is much closer to road BB drop than it is traditional Euro CX BB drop like 60mm. But I agree about the cable routing, gross.
