As a little tease of what’s promised to be a number of new tires to come, Maxxis was showing their new Forekaster at Frostbike. If you were paying close attention, you might have spotted a prototype hidden in plain sight at CX nationals. And for good reason – the wet, icy in spots, and loose trails around Asheville are right up the Forekaster’s alley. Only offered for the moment in 29, if you are looking for something a bit more aggressive from Maxxis this could be it…

Sort of an Ardent on steroids, Maxxis’ Andrew Bartek mentioned he really likes the way the Forekaster performs as a front tire but could be used as a rear for increased traction. Built with large cornering knobs, aggressive transitional knobs, and slightly ramped braking/traction knobs, all of the tread blocks feature siping for increased wet grip.

Built with a 120tpi tubeless ready casing, the Forekaster will be sold only in 29×2.35″ for just under $70.

I donno…. can you really beat the Shorty for mud though? In the PNW, the Shorty has been the hands-down fave for both 29 and 27.5 this year.
