We previewed Urge’s newly updated Endur-O-Matic 2 helmet back at the end of last summer, but availability had been fairly limited until the start of this year, and there were only a couple of color options. Following up with Urge, they sent us over some photos showing the 6 total color schemes that are available now for the goggle-friendly half shell trail lid. But in the process they also sent one image that let slip that a MIPS option was on the way to. We prodded and got some more details, on pricing and availability, plus a video of Fabien Barel and Florian Nicolai hitting their home trails in the new helmet…
So the word is that, yes there will be a MIPS version of the Endur-O-Matic 2, which will be available in May 2016. Adding the MIPS liner and reinforcements adds just about 60g to the standard helmet, to which Urge says the L/XL MIPS will be 398g now. The added protection will set you back an extra 50€ coming to 200€ for the MIPS-equipped shell.
Urge claims that adding MIPS didn’t affect ventilation at all. It is one of the more open MIPS liners, and lines up nicely with the helmet’s vents (which are unchanged) so seems legit. The MIPS helmet will be available in the limited edition red/blue/white and the regular white/black versions.
As for the standard Endur-O-Matic 2, it is also now available in the limited edition red/blue/white, as well as grey/yellow/white, white/black, red/black/white, all black, and olive/brown/black versions. They should all be available now for 150€.
