Jeff Jones has always been on a quest to find the perfect bike. The one that can do it all. A big believer in 29+, the latest products to earn the Jones seal of approval help take advantage of the biggest 29″ tires available. But to make the most out of 3.25″ wide tires from brands like Duro, you need a wide rim as a starting point. Enter Jones’ new C-Rim which is 56mm of burly carbon. Jeff is almost always excited about any of his products, and the C-Rim is no different. Claiming it is 40% stronger than the previous strongest rim the manufacturer produced, Jeff made sure that the rim was built extra thick at 3.5mm at the sidewall so it could withstand wheelies into a curb at full speed while running 10-15 psi. Stating that he could not break this rim, the C-Rim may be the answer for those worried about carbon’s durability…
Built with a hookless design, the rim measures 49mm internally and is tubeless compatible with a tight bead lock for running super low pressures. The rear rim is offset by 6mm to provide a dishless rear build, while the front is left centered. Pricing is slated for sub $600 with availability in about a month.
Combined with Jones’ new 150mm fork, that will add up to a super strong wheel build. The biggest reason for going to the 150mm spacing was to allow the use of the new Son generator hub in 150mm which was developed for fat bikes. Jeff mentions that there are still bikes and forks with 135mm spacing, but the 150mm will be an option. 150mm forks will include a bolt on thru axle instead of a QR TA since the bolt can be made lighter and simpler, and costs less. Not shown but also available soon are bolt on clamps for the fork so that you can mount an Anything cage on the legs.
Jones is also offering super light EVA foam grips in two sizes – 165mm and 205mm. Also available in two different firmness models with 50 and 60d, the H-Grips are sold with an expanding handlebar plugs.
