Shown at Interbike last fall as their first-ever tubeless ready offering, the new Clement Xlpor MSO 700×36 gravel road bike tires are now shipping throughout the U.S.
“It took us some time to get to this point,” said Johs. Huseby, Clement’s Product Development Manager, “We wanted to ascertain that our sidewall material was impermeable and air tight while still maintaining a supple ride quality. Having settled on a proprietary construction and material, we feel like we have achieved that and are ready to go roll out not only our established adventure and cross tires in tubeless versions but new treads as well.”
That sidewall will supposedly hold air just fine on its own, but they still recommend sealant for puncture protection and best performance. They also say it’ll seat up with just a floor pump, something we’ll test soon with the samples en route. Retail is $75 each. Up next for the tubeless conversion are the PDX, MXP and the all-new mud tire, BOS. Pics of those below…
Left and center are the PDX and MXP cyclocross tires. Both are currently available in both clincher and tubular, but by summer they expect the tubeless ready versions to be shipping, too. On the right is the upcoming BOS, named for Boston, Massachusetts, and will be their new mud/wet ‘cross tread pattern when it hits dealers this spring. No word on whether it’ll launch with tubeless yet.
