Transition Beer Cheers

Often on the last grueling climb of the day, you say to yourself, “the harder I push, the better that beer is gonna taste”. Trail head or “half-way” beers with friends isn’t as good as the ride… it’s part of it! Transition Bikes took it a step further and partnered up with a local brewery down the street and came up with their own special brew!

Also check out a Thomson insulated beer bag and some swank beer carriers from Walnut Studiolo…

Transition Beer

Transition Bikes

Transition Bikes has has never stopped having fun and what better way to celebrate that than to have your own special beer? Transition hooked up with local brewery Kulshan Brewing Co. and brewed up some custom micro batches of their PNW (Party iN the Woods) IPA which can be bought anywhere Kulshan beer is sold.

From Transition:

We live in a mythical place on a bay where delicious beer, big mountains and perfect dirt are a way of life. Our smooth drinking IPA is guaranteed to keep your freedom levels elevated all day! So if you’re like us and like to rally on 2 wheels, 2 skis and 2 strokes, just throw a couple of these in your pack and start a party in the woods!

Got any of these laying around? I obviously do and other than storing a few small parts in a couple, most are just piled up in a drawer in my garage. They’re too nice to toss out, I have no plans on making a dress out of them, so what to do? Well reader of the Rumor, Corbin Griffing of Boulder came up with a genius yet simple solution.

He took one of many of his Thomson seatpost bags, cut the seam, added an insulated liner, and sewed a zipper on for easy access. He even sewed on an old toe-strap so he could hang it on a backpack. He said he’s even playing around with a single version with a water bottle mount.

Walnut Studiolo

We’ve seen some cool items from Walnut in the past and they have even more leather goods designed for carrying your favorite brew… or PBR.

The leather Can Cage ($114), is a simple bar mount that centers your beverage so you can grab and go when you get to the party.

The Bicycle Beer Combo ($117), takes their Cinch strap designed to hold a six pack (or anything else you want to strap to the bike), and adds their Spartan Carton for the ultimate swank beer carrier. All leather goods come in honey, dark brown & black colors.

*Beer is good. Injuries and DUIs are not. Drink responsibly.

Can I put beer in my camelbak?

Not saying there is anything intrinsically wrong with enjoying a mid-ride beer, but there is a curious societal double standard where you are quickly criticized for not wearing a helmet, but lauded or at least tolerated for drinking and riding, while both may increase your risk of injury.

I’ve drank and ridden, smoked pot and ridden, and ridden while I was way too tired to ride. However the worst crashes I’ve had have always been when I was stoned cold sober and pushing myself as hard as I can. If I didn’t wear a helmet I would have sustained several serious head injuries by now.

A helmet can save you from the dumb decisions you make, including riding and drinking.

It seems that anyone can be a brewer these days. A homebrew kit, way too many hops, hot alcohol, >100 IBU, and a lame, witty name on a label designed by a Heald College graphic design school dropout are all that’s needed.

Is more variety a bad thing though? Competition drives up quality and drops prices.

And I’d rather have 100+ beer options with most being ok and a few being exceptional rather than having to drink the same old beer every time, no matter how good it is.
