K-Edge has seen some major corporate changes lately, with co-founder Eric Jensen buying out Joe Savola and Kristen Armstrong and taking the reins. He’s brought back their sales and marketing man Tim Kelley to keep us all posted on the new goods, too. Kelley left K-Edge a while back to work for one of the larger bike distributors, but when Jensen took over, he came back to help grow the company. And grow they should, with a new $20,000 testing machine that simulates Paris-Roubaix cobbles for thousands of hours, proving that no matter how big or heavy your computer or camera is, their mounts will hold it secure.

Three of the latest to come through “The Shaker” and into their line are the Go Big On-Center mount for GoPro (and other) action cams, plus mounts for two more cycling computers…

The On-Center sticks the camera directly in front of the stem, centering your image and preventing any handlebar sweep from putting a weird lean to your video. It’s available in black, gunmetal and red and retails for $55-$60 depending on whether you want a 31.8mm or 35mm clamp.

The new Wahoo ELEMNT out-front mount was introduced earlier, but now there’s a combo mount that combines the top computer mount with a bottom action cam mount. The lower mount uses a GoPro style system, like the On-Center. Retail for the combo version is $60-$65, available in black only. The standard version comes in black, gunmetal and red and retails for $50-$55.

The new Sigma ROX computer mount also comes in a regular ($45-$50) and combo mount ($65). It’s shown with the ROX 10.0, but will fit any of the ROX series cycling computers from Sigma. 31.8 and 35mm mounting options come in anodized black, red, gunmetal and blue for the standard model. The combo version comes only in black, but will fit either handlebar diameter.

All are available now.

“with a new $20,000 testing machine…”

Is this why a small piece of machined aluminum that costs probably a couple of bucks to mass produce retails for $65?!

Would love to see a mount for Lezyne..

Half of all their stuff has been bootlegged in china. If you are cheap or heartless, you can find good deals ~_~

@Allan No, but fine finishing, overhead, selection. and tight tolerances run up costs quickly. Their mounts are also multiple pieces, with many contoured, and intersecting surfaces. Sometimes the hardware is even specially made. They used to be even more expensive, so be happy they’ve brought prices down with higher production.

The testing machine will most likely bring down costs in the long run, as it can help refine their designs, and ultimately assure higher quality, without writing off as many failures.

Raise your hand if you like eating dinner….because they do too.

I appreciate you sticking up for them, but I have purchased similar products from China (judge me if you will) for pennies on the dollar. I know there is more to it because of the way Chinese factories operate and wage disparity, etc., but still… Doesn’t add up to $65 to me…

Everyone needs to eat but not from a 400%(or more) profit margin. I’ve been selling these things since they came out. They already rarely need warrantied.

Those long arm mounts are a fail for cameras. They shake way to much. A close mount right on the bars is much better

Just wished they would offer an insert only for the Wahoo Element instead of having to buy another complete mount.

First thing I checked when this post reminded me about K-Edge and that pile of BS they pulled a few months ago. They are back on the website for $8 each.

Never understood the appeal of a ‘metal’ head unit mount. Yeah sure it’s a little prettier and the camera footage is wee bit more steady, but that’s still more dependent on the smoothness of the roads you ride. However I prescribe to the notion that in an event of a crash with expensive carbon bars I’d like what should be the cheapest part of my handlebar setup to easily snap off instead of potentially leaving me wondering if the integrity of the carbon has been compromised in a hidden manner. Just my two cents.

I’d have to agree, having the mount directly below the stem barring cables I think is a better solution and stronger. However, I actually have the barfly version of this mount with a Edge 1000 on top and either a contour(gopro adapter) or LNM Urban 500 below and it does not shake on my road bike, but I imagine it would very much shake on my MTB.

Also I do appreciate metal mounts, but my barfly mount was maybe $20 for the same thing as this and also have a lifetime warranty.

Barfly won’t buy you a new camera if and when it breaks. And they do break fairly often when you’re talking camera mounts. Their computer mounts are fine but their camera mounts seem to break, even without impact…just carrying the weight of the camera over a period of time

Unless you are riding smooth pavement, mounting has always given me a shaky nausea-inducing view. I love how they replicated Roubaix cobbles and named their mount the “shaker”. The mount may not drop the camera, but nobody is going to want to suffer through watching the videos. Talk about missing the forest through the trees!

Thank you for all of your feedback and comments. A few things to clear up in the above thread-
1. Our “testing equipment” is the most advanced due to the level of CNC machined products we make both in and outside the cycling industry. “The shaker” has allowed us to replicate the roughest roads- which under slow motion video shows your plastic mounts bouncing like a wet noodle (a must see) with a camera and computer mounted on them. We have engineered our mounts to remove this flex and absolutely not break. That’s what we do and why we built the mounts to this level of performance without trying to make them hit a $29.99 price point we all might like. The margin is built in for the cycling industry distributor, to the bike shop, to you the consumer. We’re sorry it can’t be less expensive, but as “shafty” says above, we do like to eat (albeit peanut butter and jelly usually).
2. Video quality on a bike is often hurt by a plastic mount as the flex and bounce in the mount is jittery (the actually bumps in the road and trail are less so). Unfortunately very few of the videos you see are shot on K-EDGE mounts. The ones that are filmed on K-EDGE are the clear and smooth ones. This has been proven with side by side video. You can search online and see for yourself.
3. “VeganPotter” you are correct- a lifetime warranty doesn’t help if your Garmin EDGE 1000 and GoPro Hero fall off with your broken mount. Nor is getting a deal on an overseas copy of our mounts, as these aluminum knock-off mounts often break. We design K-EDGE mounts to simply never fail. It stems from our brand being built for ensuring success in an Olympic Gold Medal or Tour de France title defense type setting. Hence, we truly appreciate the specialty bike market understanding that we make our products ourselves, to perform, period. Even if the cost of doing so makes the price a bit higher than our competition.

Again, thank you for you comments. Keep ’em coming. We’re bike guys here at K-EDGE and like you certainly have our opinions.
