Introduced as a 2015 model, the alloy Transition Scout took the frame cues of their Patrol and shortened the travel a bit. The new Scout Carbon shares the same 125mm rear travel paired with 140mm forks, but upgrades to a full carbon frame.
Like the alloy version, there’s no support for a front derailleur, it’s 1x only, with an expanding, squared seat tube shape creating a giant box section on the threaded 73mm BB shell for a solid pedaling platform. ISCG05 tabs are there, as are rubberized frame guards and colletted main pivot hardware…
The family resemblance to the Patrol is striking, but they say each bike has its own personality. The Scout’s built on 27.5″ wheels and their GiddyUp Link suspension design that keeps you riding high in the travel so it’s peppy and ready for bigger hits as they come.
With a claimed frame weight of 6.2lb for size large with shock, the carbon version shaves a whopping 1.1lb (499g) off the bike.
Frameset with Rockshox Monarch RT3 shock is $2,999, complete bikes from $5,099 to $8,799. Click spec sheet to enlarge for build specs and geometry.
