bikerumor pic of the day bike valley flanders aero wind tunnel testing

Photo submitted by Nikolaas Van Riet, Wind Tunnel Testing Coordinator for Flanders’ Bike Valley, “At Bike Valley we believe strongly in the importance of aerodynamics in MTB. For XC (marathon racing), but also for enduro and downhill!! Aerodynamics are very important and can make the difference. Therefore we go to the extreme while testing in the wind tunnel… see picture, I am hanging on for dear life… Ok, and we like to have fun at the same time :-)”

We always love seeing photos or where you ride and want to share them with our readers around the world here on the Pic Of The Day. Send in your pics with a brief description here.

Although this position will be quite stretching for everyone, aerodynamics is definitely also important in MTB…
Are there any mountainbikers who’ve already been tested in a windtunnel so far ?

Trek did a load of wind tunnel tests few years ago. I’d be very surprised if Specialized hadn’t.

Specialized has video on YouTube. It’s all pertaining to clothing. Baggies were a BIG loser, even at XC speeds

Must be nice to be able to afford to hoon around in a wind tunnel.
