Out front mounts are great because they put the screen closer to your field of view, keeping your eyes more where they should be while riding. They also look good, and arguably are more aero. But, they still require a bit of real estate on your handlebar, which may not work with some aero bars (looking at you, ENVE) or can be a significant investment that deters upgrading to a different diameter handlebar. Or getting a new cycling computer that’s a different size or model.
If any of those apply to you, or you just like a totally minimalist look, F3 Cycling’s new FormMount bolts directly to your stem face place for a clean look and solid attachment…
Arms are Injection molded carbon or kevlar reinforced nylon, over-molded onto CNC machined Stainless Steel sleeves for strength. The cradle/mounting area is Delrin for durability and positive computer fit without wearing down the tabs on your computer.
The design allows you to spread the arms as wide or narrow as you need to fit your stem’s bolt pattern, and slide the mounting platform in or out to accommodate small and large cycling computers. For phones and larger things, simply mount it to the top bolts with the arms angled downward so the platform sits just above the stem’s top. Even mountain bikers are covered since the design can be reversed to sit the computer above the stem instead of sticking out front.
They’re working on additional mount types to work with lights and smart phones, and a GoPro adapter that attaches underneath the computer will ship free to all Kickstarter backers. Additional computer mounts will be available separately if you change models. Check out their crowdfunding campaign and nab one for as little as $43. Normal retail will be $50, and they’ll be making it in America and plan on delivering just 4-6 weeks after the campaign ends if they can meet their goal.
