At the end of last year Podia shared with us that they are expanding beyond producing colorful riding kit into offering vacation cycling trips, sharing the quiet & picturesque roads leading from their Kraków base into the Tatra mountains to the south. The new tours called Roadventures take in everything from smooth winding mountain switchbacks to centuries old village cobbles along the way, so when they started talking with the UK’s Genesis bikes about working together to offer bikes for their visitors, it was clear that customizing a stainless Volare was in order. In the end they built two custom bikes for the guides who will leading the trips, and will offer stock Volares for riders who come to join them. Get an up-close look at the special edition bike, plus check out a new Roadventures teaser video below the fold…

Each Roadventure trip will be led by two experienced road guides, showing their guests around the Tatras on the Polish/Slovak border. They wanted their Podia guides to look the part, so they’ll each get one of these custom painted, and custom kitted out Podia x Genesis Volare road bikes.

As for those cyclists who join in on the Roadventures, they’ll have the chance to rent a standard steel Genesis Volare or the carbon Genesis Zero so they won’t have to bother with travelling with their own bike.

The Podia x Genesis Volare build is all about the classics of European cycling, and starts off with the Reynolds 931 stainless steel of the Volare.

Of course the key element here is the two-off custom paint jobs created by Britsol-based Doktor Bobby of Colourburn Studio.

The scheme takes Podia’s purple, orange & yellow color palette (as we are told will be seen in the 2017 line of Podia’s Club kit) and applies from the fork and stem (& stem cap) back in painstaking detail. Plus, it’s always nice to see that stainless shining through for the rear triangle.

Then Campagnolo handles the beautiful drivetrain, with a Chorus mechanical groupset and Bora One wheels wrapped in 25mm wide Challenge Elite clinchers.

Contact bits are by Brooks, with a Cambium C13 rubber-topped saddle and matching Cambium rubber bar tape.

The upcoming Roadventure trips into the Tatra mountains head off in a few months in May and June, with a few spots still available. Check out our previous post about the trips or head straight to Podia’s travel page to learn more.

The custom Podia x Genesis bike will be on display at this coming weekend’s Berliner FahrradSchau in the German capital, alongside some all-new clothing from Podia. We’ll be there seeing what all we can scope out and will be reporting back on our finds over the next few weeks.
